OCCURRENCE :- Central and N.South America , Florida
HABITAT :- Forest , Trees near water
SIZE :- Length 1 to 2 m
FAMILY :- Iguanidae
GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS :-
- It is an agile , tree dwelling lizard with a crest of comb-like spines running at throughout the length of its body and tail.
- Green coloured bands run across the shoulders and tail becoming darker with age.
- Diurnals and herbivores , they defend themselves with their teeth and claws if attacked.
- They can also swim easily.
- In autumn , the female lays 28-40 eggs in a hole dug in the ground.
- The eggs hatch after about 3 months.
