BROOKESIA
SCIENTIFIC NAME :- Brookesia spectrum
OCCURRENCE :- Cameroon , Gabon to E.Africa
HABITAT :- Forest floor
SIZE :- Length 7.5 to 9 cm
FAMILY :- Chamaeleonidae
GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS :-
- It is a small dusty brown chameleon with little peaks on the head and body resembling leaf veins.
- There are two tiny appendages an the snout and stumpy tail is not prehensile.
- It seldom changes colour as it spends most of its time among dead leaves.
- Its legs are very thin and bony and it moves slowly and can remain still for hours.
- It feeds mainly on insects.
- The female lays a clutch of 3-6 eggs which she buries in the soil.
