                                   GENERAL CHARACTERISTIC :-

1. It is an aquatic turtle with only 3 claws on each foot and weighing upto 45 kg.
2. It has a rounded flexible carapace with no horny plates and a long mobile neck.
3. It is a omnivorous and feeds on molluscs , fish , insects and fruits .
4. Breeding takes place in april . 
5. The female lay clutch of 50-60 eggs .
6. It is hunted by man in many parts of its range for food .
