OCCURRENCE :- New Guinea , Australia
HABITAT :- Dry forest , Woodland
SIZE :- Length 66 cm

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS :-
- It is a slender lizard with a long tail measuring upto 44 cm and a ruff-like collar of skin around the neck about 25.5 cm in diameter.
- When alarmed , the lizard opens its mouth wide and the brightly coloured frill stands erect which normally lies in folds around the neck and shoulders.
- It has long legs and triangular shaped head.
- It is active during day time and feeds on insects and other small animals.
- The female lays the eggs in the soil.
